God Has Something For You Today

God has something for you today.

Pray.

Listen.

Wait.

Listen some more…

Do it daily.

Daily habits make a difference. They make a huge difference over the course of time.

In our world it’s so easy to get caught up in day-to-day activities and responsibilities that we don’t always take a moment or two to listen to what God has for us. We presume if God has something to tell us he’ll some how get our attention.

The truth is God has plenty of things to say to you, and to share with you. He never runs out. He has something for you day after day after day.

In the big scheme of things it’s so easy for us to neglect little moments, with friends, with family, with co-workers – even with strangers – and most importantly spending time listening to what God has for us.

When we do this we really end up missing out on so much.

I know it’s a sacrifice, and I know it is uncomfortable, especially in the beginning, but listening to God on a personal level is also a very worthwhile investment.

As you continue to make time to quiet your mind and emotions and listen to God (not just come to him with your wants, needs and petitions) you’ll grow in closeness to him in a very meaningful way. Your relationship will grow into deeper levels of heart to heart, spirit to spirit encounters. It will help open the doors to greater, deeper things of his heart and his spirit.

Of course, as with any kind of worthy growth, it won’t happen quickly, but rather, little by little over time.

I’d like to encourage you to block out times in your schedule and reserve those times to listen to God. You’ll find he won’t disappoint you. James 4:8 tells us if we come close to God, he will come close to us. Reserving times in your schedule will help set that time aside so that you can both grow closer to each other. Just like any important relationship, you have to make quality time for it.

One distraction that frequently comes to our natural minds is that spending this kind of time with God will just be boring.

Well…

It might be…

At times it does seem as though God is more distant to us than others. The word is full of occasions in which people had to wait upon him, so yes, there will be times when waiting will be part of the process.

But it won’t always be like this.

There will also be times of great relief, great growth, great amazement and great fulfillment for you as God reveals himself to you more and more and the two of you grow closer and closer.

After a bit of history you’ll have even more confidence, knowing from personal experience, that time spent listening to God is anything but boring.
